i went in for a check up because i was being paranoid about skin cancer. so they found a mole on the bottom of my foot that raised suspicions. for one, the bottom of your foot is a weird place to have a mole, secondly, new moles aren't supposed to appear after the age of 21-ish, third, it was asymmetrical - there was a "bridge"...meaning all the lines in the mole were going one way except for one, which was perpendicular to the others, and lastly, it was two-toned. so on friday, 8/1, i went in to have the mole removed (punch biopsy - basically they remove it with a cookie cutter type thing) and sent to the lab. so i am awaiting the results - melanoma or no melanoma. and i am left with three stitches under my foot which pretty much leaves me out of commission...no exercise, swimming, surfing, nada for the next ten days. there goes the last of my summer vacation :( but all for the sake of health and hypochondria.
